Contraception

Talk to our pharmacist in private about the contraceptive pill or emergency contraception. You don't need to see your GP first.

The contraceptive pill

  • Start the pill for the first time, or restart it
  • Get more of the pill you already take
  • We'll check your blood pressure and health to make sure it's right for you

Bring your current pill packet if you have one.

Emergency contraception

If you've had unprotected sex or your contraception may have failed, come in as soon as you can. It works best the sooner it's taken.

  • No appointment needed. Walk in during opening hours
  • Can be used up to 5 days after unprotected sex, depending on the type
  • We can also tell you where to get a copper coil, the most effective option

Private and confidential

Your consultation takes place in our private room. Young people under 16 can also be seen confidentially; our pharmacist will talk things through with you.

For other types of contraception, such as the implant or injection, we can tell you where to go.

Feeling very unwell? If you're unwell or worried about your safety, call NHS 111. In an emergency, call 999.
